MacRecorder and SoundEdit have been the standard digital audio devices for capturing sound on the macitosh. A range of devices from DigiDesign have also been available but have been priced for the professional recording studio market. Now the successful PC sound company, Media Vision has brough it's audio products to the Mac.

Media Vision has released it's Pro Audio Spectrum 16 Sound Card for the LC and Nubus Macintosh. The board supports 16bit CD quality digital audio recording and playback to 44KHz. It includes a Midi Interface and 4 voice FM Synthesizer.
Software includes Mediavision Pocket Tools, Passport Design's Audio Producer, Quicktunes Midi recording, Passport Design's Trax and a version of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis with support for the sound card.

MediaVision has also released a Mac multimedia Boom Box for those that like their multimedia loud. It has a 100W power amplifier and speakers, analog mixer, Pro Audio Card and NEC CD player in an integrated enclosure.
Much better than MacRecorder and much less than DIgiDesign, the Pro Audio Spectrum card is the audio equivalent of the Videospigot and should become the audio capture choice for multimedia developers and sound samplers.
